The Million Strong Men Initiative was founded by Dr. Ashutosh (Ash) K. Tewari, one of the world's foremost urologists and prostate cancer specialists. Dr. Tewari holds the Milton and Carroll Petrie Chair of Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he also serves as Surgeon-in-Chief of the Tisch Cancer Hospital and Director of the Center of

Excellence for Prostate Cancer. He has performed over 10,000 robotic radical prostatectomies and was part of the team that performed the first robotic radical prostatectomy in the United States at Henry Ford Hospital. He has over 250 peer-reviewed publications to his name and has received the American Urological Association's Gold Cystoscope Award (2012). The initiative began with the launch of the Mount Sinai Robert F. Smith Mobile Prostate Cancer Screening Unit, a fully equipped mobile clinic described as a doctor's office on wheels, offering point-of-care PSA testing, imaging, and Wi-Fi connectivity to reach men who face barriers to traditional healthcare. Within three years of operating in just two regions, the program has screened over 13,000 men, including more than 6,000 Black men, one of the highest-risk populations for prostate cancer. The Million Strong Men Initiative is the global expansion of this effort, with an ambitious goal to screen one million men between the ages of 45 and 70 over the next ten years. Mobile units are currently planned for Atlanta, Georgia, and Delhi, India. The initiative also promotes overall healthy living and includes a He for She program supporting women who accompany men through screening and treatment. Dr. Tewari led Project Heal India during the COVID-19 crisis, coordinating the donation of over $4 million in oxygen concentrators, ventilators, and PPE equipment shipped to hospitals across India.
